Vintage necklaces look great layered. Even stand alone necklaces, when piled on together can give your older treasures a more contemporary presention:

I like to always have one chunky medallion necklace with progressively shorter and more delicate pieces:

The look is high drama and great on a simple outfit, like a white T and jeans or over a black cocktail dress or tank.  Be daring with your layers... think Madonna in her early years!
